Changing the Face of Today's Trust Real Estate Industry

President's Message
July 1, 2011

The 2011 Educational/Development Forum in Clearwater, FL was absolutely great and I would like to thank those involved with the planning, presenting, and sponsoring of programs and events. I would especially like to thank Jay Bowman for his double duty of hosting the Forum while also serving as president this past year. This has been an active year and noticeable positive changes will be seen soon.

I appreciate the opportunity to serve as the NTREA President for 2011-2012 and look forward to working with the new Board of Directors. My membership dates back to 1999 with the conference hosted in Cleveland and while that may make me a veteran, I don't feel like one. I, like Jay, did not plan to be in a leadership role but after a few years of committee involvement and hosting the Forum in 2006, I was motivated to continue in any way that would benefit the association. Like many of you, I am truly a supporter of NTREA's mission and its benefits to the members.

A new website will be rolled out later this year and please do take a look at it. Several members have been involved in the website's development as well as Executive Director, Jeanne Moore. This is not just a new face on the old home page, as the new site will have fully revised content and will be used as a primary source of information and education for us members. In addition to the website, the annual Educational/Development Forum is a tremendous opportunity, which allows us to gain insight into some of the latest developments and share trends and information with fellow trust real estate professionals. The Forum, these days, is planned by the member host, the executive director, and external resources for site selection, program development, and finding motivational speakers on timely topics. For example, the 2011 forum featured a speaker on Stephen M. R. Covey's "The Speed of Trust" and got us thinking about the principles of trust. Two weeks later, I attended an internal bank conference where the principles of trust between colleagues and clients were also featured. I urge all members including those that have not attended recently to begin to make plans to attend the Forum in May 2012.

On behalf of the NTREA Board, I would like to express our appreciation to Shirley Garnto and U.S. Bank for volunteering to host the next Forum in St. Louis, MO. Shirley is already working on some great activities so stay tuned for dates and times.

I look forward to an exciting and active year and please let me know if you have any ideas for the continuous improvement of NTREA.

Sincerely,

Don Sack
NTREA President
